Maria Shemeteva

Maria Shemeteva obtained her bachelor’s degree in physics in Moscow, Russia, where she worked on the application of zero-mode waveguides for observing receptor–toxin kinetics at the single-molecule level. She then joined the Prof. Gradinaru group at the University of Toronto to study interactions between G protein–coupled receptors and G proteins in the cell membrane and, in particular, their coupling dynamics, focusing on the A2AR–Go system. Currently, she is a master’s student at the Max Planck School Matter to Life, specializing in biophysics. In April 2026, Maria joined the group for an internship to investigate how and why receptor clusters form on the membrane.
